Dance-Inspired Class Ideas For fitness trainers

Fitness trainers are constantly looking for fun and leading edge class formats for their scholars. If you're an instructor who likes to dance there are a spread of formats you can use to provide a dance-inspired workout. These are some concepts which will put the fun atmosphere and a hint of show business into your class.
Latin Cardiovascular - Use your experience in salsa, merengue, cha-cha, bachata and other latin rhythms to form an aerobics workout to latin music. Look for music CD's that have compilations of latin music selections made particularly for aerobic work-outs. Make a party feel and partner up the scholars for 1 or 2 songs so they can dance together. Use party decorations or bring maracas for the class to use with some of the tracks.
Cardiovascular Swing - this may be like the latin cardiovascular except that you would use a variety of swing songs. Use swing steps, charleston kicks, and triple steps in your choreography. Pick music that is acceptable for the demographics of your class. As an example, an older population would like enormous band music or the music of Frank Sinatra.
Decade themes - Use music of the 50's, 70's or 80's. Have the class dress in the form of the decade. There are numerous music CD's you can find that have these themes, and you'll be able to find some that are especially for aerobic workouts. Make it a laugh with party decorations like a disco ball for the 70's theme.
Country-Line - Teach two or three country-line dances and then have the class practice them a couple of times. If you're not acquainted with any line dances you can simply learn them from DVD's or find video clips on the internet. Have the class bring cowboy hats and dress in jeans and boots.
Broadway Style - Pick a well-liked song from a broadway show and choreography some steps to it. Teach the class the steps till they have learned the entire song. Then perform the dance at the end of the class. Bring any costume accessories that will make the class more fun. As an example you can bring some feather boas for a jazzy style dance.
Hip hop - Choreograph a hip hop routine and then break down the steps. At the end of the class your scholars will know the entire routine. Have them bring hats to seem acceptable.
Bollywood or Bellydance- If you know something about bollywood dance from India you can incorporate this style into a class format. There are several examples of bollywood and bellydance online or you can study some steps from an instructional DVD. Hand out hip scarves to the scholars to wear to make it more fun.
Flapper or Charleston - You can make an enjoyable choreographed flapper routine to a bit of music from the 20's. Use charleston kicks, knee crosses, and flapper hand movements. Have the class dress up like flappers with feathered hats, boas, and fringe dresses.
These are some fun and novel ways to incorporate alternative styles of dancing into your exercising plans. With these ideas you can make your class an event rather than merely a normal workout!
